Research Themes

Infrastructure Impacts

Research on infrastructure development - in particular roads - on landcover change and habitat loss. Includes my PhD research in developing improved models of the secondary impacts of major roads in tropical forest frontiers, referred to as first-cut roads.

Ecological Restoration

Research on the delivery and planning of ecological restoration programmes in Australia and internationally. In particular, my research largely focuses on how and where funding is allocated and how this influences the species and ecosystems that benefit from restoration programmes.

Landcover Change

Research on the consequences and drivers of landcover change (excluding landcover change linked to infrastructure development). In particular, my research has focused on the ways in which agriculture shapes both landcover change and habitat protection.

Tropical Ecology

Research on the ecology of tropical forests and tropical forest species. Specific topics include tropical forest phenology and animal behavior.

Miscellaneous

Research on a range of other topics including political influence on
science and social and economic justice in nature conservation and ecological restoration.
